The Odyssey

Been absent from blog-world for a while now. In the last couple of months, my beloved people-mover (that i don't carry ppl in) has been slapped with some tasteful mods for some added street cred.

Hainan Island

my gosh, it has been a long while since i last blogged. Bloggers block.

Been uber busy with work since my last post, also made the long delayed trek back to Australia to visit the missus, friends and relatives across three states. Plus, the people mover's street cred has been raised by about 5 folds with the latest addition of some wheels and a lowered stance. Will be dwelling on details in upcoming posts.

Stay tuned!

MIA again

The blog has been uber quiet lately due to the author's overly busy work schedule in the last month or so. Managed to get ONE weekend off and headed to Jakarta for a much needed quick weekend R&R holiday. With a big rave party, concerts and a carnival coming up in August, it looks like it'll be my last weekend till the end of August. After that, i'm really looking forward to seeing the missus in September when i fly off to Australia for a couple of weeks. A long delayed trip back to the land down under to visit friends & Family in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast... it'll be my well deserved holiday.

As with my previous trip to Jakarta, here's what came back with us this time round...

On going.

Coincidence: Today we're attending a dialogue session with PUSPAL and i stumble upon this article in The Star today.

I feel The government's clamp down on Alcohol & Ciggie companies sponsoring foreign acts is going to be detrimental to the industry. As it is, with our restrictions big name acts are already heading to neighboring countries. Without the big dollar sponsorship from the Alco & Cig boys, we Malaysians will see even less big name stars performing here in Malaysia. Updates from the PUSPAL dialogue session resulted in even more confusion as to the regulations, whats clear is "No sponsorship of foreign acts" and "No public dispensing of Alco & Cigs". With one of my biggest clients being a cig company, i guess we've got our work cut out for us as we try to work around the Grey areas in the regulations. Lets hope the authorities are able to see the economic and financial gains from allowing the Alco & Cig boys to spend more.

A Quick snippet from the article in The Star.
“Unfortunately, wine and beer have become a victim of the so-called sin tax here. It is important to see beyond this issue and look at the implications of higher taxes and look at ways to be competitive, especially when our neighbors have much to offer under this category,” said newly appointed
Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Dr Victor Wee Eng Lye.
